I love you,

I love you because you give me space.

I love you because you have space not only for me but also for my siblings who came to you from the four corners of the earth. Because in your heart there is room not only for us but also for them and in that encounter we become a diverse unit under your affectionate tent.

I love you because you give me space to contribute, because you have everything and yet I feel that I can give to you.

I love you because your prophetic awakening was continuity and beginning, it was sacred and divine but fruit of hand labor.

I love you because from the moment you were born you changed my world and that of my family forever. Because since you came into the world you became our refuge no matter where we are.

I love you because you are deep, passionate, complex, and even a little dysfunctional. I love you but I am not in love with you, my affection is not temporary, nor does it prevent me from seeing your imperfections.

My love motivates me to accompany you in your standing commitment to improve yourself and at the same time to accept you when there are things that perhaps we do not share.

I love you not only for what you say but for who you are, because hope is not only your speech but rather your DNA. Because the creativity that helped you survive in the past, today is a force for prosperity that not only nurtures you, but often lights up the entire world.

I love you because you never give up and because you have the decency to always show up.

My Gratitude for your existence cannot capture the extent of the certainty of knowing that in large part I am and we are the way we are because you are.

My grandparents and great-grandparents yearned for you. Today Standing over more than two thousand years of dreams, I have the privilege of living with you. I pray to God that my children and grandchildren will always have you and will never take you for granted.

Today on your 74th birthday I celebrate you and pray for your strength and continuity.
